Balsamic Strawberries

An unlikely sounding pairing, balsamic vinegar and strawberries actually go hand in hand in a very tasty and delightful manner. The balsamic enhances the berries’ flavor and imparts a beautiful color. It’s a great way to prepare your strawberries for simple, yet sophisticated fare. Great on their own, this is a great topping for vanilla ice cream or cheesecake.

Adapted from Bon Appétit, April 1999

1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Toss all ingredients in medium bowl. Let stand at room temperature until juices form, at least 1 hour and up to 3 hours.
